Manuel Raventós i Domènech is commonly know as an entrepreneur, though his work as a scholar and innovator in the spheres of agronomy, forestry and oenology doesn’t command the attention it deserves. He directed the main agricultural development societies in Catalonia, such as the Catalan Agricultural Institute of Sant Isidre, and was the first director of the Higher School of Agriculture. In 1914, at the age of 52, he led by example and embarked on the painstaking task of transforming the 7900 acres of land belonging to Raïmat into a modern estate. His expert knowledge merged in this initiative, which resulted in a social, business project.
