La Molina welcomes the first CCA Youth Forum

More than forty delegates will take part in the first CCA Youth Forum in La Molina (Cerdanya, Girona), from June 13th - 17th, organised by the Presidential Department. The CCA delegates are all aged between 21 and 35 and have travelled to Catalonia from a dozen different countries.

Through the Forum it is hoped to address a request made by the Catalan communities: to give young people an introduction to the management of cultural organisations so that they can get involved in managing and coordinating events run by their respective organisations to promote and spread knowledge of Catalan culture and the situation of Catalonia today.

This meeting will also permit networking, strengthening the ties between the CCAs and the young people that belong to them and helping to bring new blood into the centres.

This training and the exchange of experiences at the Youth Forum will enable CCAs around the world to reinforce even further their work of promoting Catalan culture abroad.

Several work sessions have been programmed to provide information about and debate subjects such as the public and private funding of the organisations, the possibilities offered by new information and communication technology for promoting events, Catalan linguistic policy, youth policy, the university system and popular and traditional culture.

Young people from Catalan communities in Germany, Andorra, Argentina, Costa Rica, Ecuador, the USA, France, Mexico, Paraguay, Switzerland, Uruguay and Venezuela will take part in the meeting.

The Forum has been organised with the support of the Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat that, in addition to financial support, will also offer the delegates a trip to the Vall de Núria, as well as the collaboration of the town councils of Alp and Puigcerdà.

The Forum's closing ceremony will be hosted by the new director of Catalan Agency for Development Cooperation, Àlex Masllorens, and, Joan Planella, the mayor of Puigcerdà. The opening ceremony will be conducted by Rafael Caballeria, the person responsible for CCAs at the Generalitat, Salvador Rigola, the mayor of Alp, and a representative from Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat.
