What type of outlet do I have?


Convenience stores:

Retail outlets with a surface area of less than 500 sq. m., which must likewise have on offer each of the following groups of items: books, newspapers and magazines; food products; CDs and videos; toys, gifts and various items. They must be open to the public for at least 18 hours a day.


Shops in hotels:

Retail outlets located inside hotels, which are not directly accessible from the street and whose activity must be permanent.


Food stores that are exempt from general opening hours:

Personal sales or self-service outlets owned by SMEs with a sales area no larger than 150 sq. m. and which solely offers daily food products..


Outlets at tourist venues:

Retail outlets at museums, monuments or tourist recreation centres, which sell products that are directly linked to the respective places.


Retail outlets in tourist towns:

A tourist town shall refer to one that either meets certain parameters insofar as accommodation for seasonal influxes is concerned, or a place with a large influx of visitors for tourist reasons. Classification as a tourist town for the purposes of establishing retail opening hours is incumbent on the Directorate-General for Trade, at the request of the town council concerned.
