Carme Capdevila i Palau

Born in La Floresta (Les Garrigues) on 6 July 1954. She is married and has three children.

She holds a degree in Sciences (Biology) from the University of Barcelona, is qualified in social education by the Association of Social Educators of Catalonia and holds a graduate degree in conflict mediation from Ramon Llull University. She has also been a secondary education teacher and the director of the Les Guilleries Environmental Education Centre.

Carme Capdevila has extensive experience in the sphere of child protection. She was the director of a shelter for minors and of an educational action residential centre (CRAE), as well as being the person in charge of the resources area of the Directorate-General for the care of minors in Girona.

In 2004 she became the vice-secretary general for Political Action with Esquerra Republicana de Catalunya and she has been a deputy in the Parliament of Catalonia for the Girona district since 2003. During the 7th term of office she was president of the Social Policy Commission of the Catalan Chamber and has also been a member on the parliamentary commissions for Women's Rights and Immigration, and on the Síndic de Greuges (Ombudsman) Commission.

Town councillor at Sant Hilari Sacalm for eight years and a county councillor in La Selva for two years.
