Born in Aguilar de Campoo (Palència) on 14 August 1955.
She became director general for Labour Relations of the Ministry of Employment and Industry on 26 January 2004.
She was a magistrate in the social jurisdiction in the Labour Relations Court in Barcelona between January 2001 and January 2004 and was Employment and Social Security Inspector from 1984 to the year 2000.
She has been associate lecturer of Labour Law at the Law Faculty of Pompeu Fabra University since 1997.
She was a Labour and Social Affairs advisor for the Spanish Embassies in Venezuela, Colombia and the Dominican Republic (1994-1997), and assistant advisor for Labour Relations and Labour Law at the Regional Office of the International Labour Organisation for Latin America and the Caribbean, in Lima (Peru) (1989-1991).
She was a labour lawyer for the UGT of Catalonia (1977-1982).
