The rooms of the painter Antoni Clavé
In 1993, the Conference Hall of the Palau was officially opened.
Spaces located under the Pati dels Tarongers had been refurbished,
idea first proposed by the architect J. M. Puig i Cadafalch
in his restoration plan for the Palau de la Generalitat from
1910, when Enric Prat de la Riba was president of the Deputation
of Barcelona.
The restoration, improvement and refurbishing of these rooms,
work of the architect Carles Solsona, has created a large hall,
equipped with the latest technology for simultaneous translation,
sound system, image projection of every kind, recordings, multimedia
computer systems and stage lighting.
The rooms of the painter Antoni ClavéTo create a sufficiently
large hall, the existing pillars had to be taken out, whilst
maintaining the system of arches and vaults that already existed
under the Pati dels Tarongers . This solution fitted in with
measures taken previously in the Gothic gallery and Capella
de Sant Jordi, which also contain capitals without columns.
This architectural feature introduced a unified aesthetic touch
into the Palau.
Around the auditorium are the rooms of the painter Antoni Clavé,
with diverse works by the artist. These are the anterooms or
lodges that extend the central nucleus and provide more space
and options for usage.
