Adrianna Ianora és ecòloga de zooplànctons a l'Estació Zoològica de Nàpols, Itàlia, des de 1983 i directora de recerca del Laboratori Ecofisiològic de l'Estació Ecològica des de 1998. Es va llicenciar a la McGill University de Montreal i posteriorment es va graduar Laurea Cum Laude a la Universitat de Nàpols.

La professora exerceix o ha exercit les següents funcions:

  • Membre del Comitè de Direcció de l'EU Network of Excellence MarBEF (Funcionament de la Biodiversitat i l'Ecosistema Marí); mànager del grup de treball sobre activitats formació; coordinadora de projecte de recerca ROSEMEB (Paper dels Metabòlits Secundaris a la Biodiversitat de l'Ecosistema).
  • Investigadora principal de l'EU Network of Excellence EUROCEAN i membre del Comitè de Formació d'aquest centre.

Recerca:

La doctora Ianora treballa en les àrees d'ecologia química microalgal i ecologia de "copèpodes", reproducció, desenvolupament, nutrició i fisiologia. El laboratori on treballa utilitza un enfocament integratiu per estudiar les interaccions entre les plantes i els predadors a les comunitats marines de plàncton, entenent el paper de les defenses químiques en les interaccions biòtiques.

Actualment, la doctora Ianora està estudiant els efectes de les defenses químiques dels fitoplànctons com els aldehids poliinsaturats produïts per algunes espècies tòxiques.

Adrianna Ianora és responsable de la coordinació de les activitats del projecte d'investigació en química ecològica ROSEMEB de l'EU Network of Excellence MarBEF, i membre del Comitè PhD de l'Open University a l'SZN des del 2001 i coordinadora dels cursos d'ecologia.
