Announcement of the 2nd Conference of INEBRIA
International Network on Brief Interventions
for Alcohol Problems.
Call for Papers


15-16th of September 2005
Muenster, Germany


The 2nd Annual Conference will take place in Muenster, Germany. It will provide a unique opportunity to learn about the latest developments in the field of brief interventions for alcohol problems. The program will include presentations by invited experts, scientific contributions related to the objectives of INEBRIA, and workshops dealing with practical matters of implementation.

Conference venue: Muenster is situated in the region of Westfalia in the middle of Germany. It is a charming university town and received the 2004 gold award of LivCom for its quality of life. The conference will be held in a comfortable congress facility associated with the University of Muenster

Registration fee: A fee of 80 Euros will be charged.

All participants, including presenters, are expected to pay for their own travel, lodging and registration fees.

Organisation: The conference will be organized with the support of the Department of Health, Government of Catalonia.

It will be hosted by Fred Rist and Ralf Demmel, University of Muenster, Department of Clinical Psychology.

Call for Papers

INEBRIA will be accepting abstract submissions for the 2nd Annual Conference through the Call for Papers. All abstract submissions are peer reviewed and may be accepted for either an oral presentation or a poster presentation.

Individuals are now invited to submit contributions for presentation at the 2nd Annual Conference through this Call for Papers. Contributions should be related to the objectives of INEBRIA:

  • To share information, experience, research findings and expertise in the area of alcohol brief interventions.
  • To facilitate training on brief interventions and provide assistance to countries and institutions to adapt and implement brief interventions, particularly with regard to the transfer of knowledge and technology from high income to low income countries.
  • To promote best practice and develop guidelines for the wide dissemination and implementation of brief interventions.
  • To identify gaps and needs for research in the field of alcohol brief interventions, promote international research co-operation and set standards for research in this field.
  • To integrate the study of brief interventions with the wider context of measures to prevent and reduce alcohol-related harm.
  • To pay particular attention to the needs of young people in relation to alcohol brief interventions.

All abstracts will be published in the bilingual journal SUCHT. Abstracts must be submitted in English by email no later than midnight (CET) on Tuesday, February 15, 2005 and following the excel forms provided below.

Attention: Abstract submission deadline for the 2nd Annual Conference has been extended until 31st of March.
