Launching new companies

I would like guidance on how to start my own business, what the procedure is, whether any grants are available etc. Where can I go to get that guidance?

The Employment Department's Company Creation Service offers information and  guidance through its cooperating entities on the various issues involved in starting up a company, the procedures entailed and the resources available, as well as advice on the business plan, taking account of the particular features of each project and an analysis of its viability. You can reach the Company Creation Service via the Department's website.

Who can use the Company Creation Service?

All employed or unemployed workers wishing to start up their own company.

The Service is also available to people who are beginning to set up their company or who have already set it up less than a year before asking the Service for advice.

Under certain circumstances, the Service will also be available in other duly justified cases, which are evaluated by those in charge.

Can people planning projects for not-for-profit entities, associations and foundations also ask the Company Creation Service for advice?

Yes, the Company Creation Service is a service of the Government of Catalonia's  Employment Department offering advice, guidance, training and assistance in encouraging and supporting self-run enterprises and entrepreneurs.

The service is provided through cooperating entities that advise the people seeking help and support them in starting up their company.

Can they charge me for the guidance they give?

No; the service is maintained by subsidies. However, if the organisation in question also offers other professional services in the private sphere - services that are not included in the aspects covered by the Employment Department's grants - they must state that clearly to the entrepreneurs concerned, and must draw up a quotation for those non-subsidised services.
