The Active Tourism Club is a programme of marketing assistance developed by Turisme de Catalunya to promote Active Tourism in close cooperation with companies, organisations and bodies engaged in this sector of the tourist industry, which must comply with the requirements for membership established by the Club itself.

By Active Tourism we understand tourist activities that lead visitors to discover an area through the practice of leisure activities, mostly in the open air and in natural settings.

The following are considered examples of active tourism:

• Hiking
• Bicycle tourism and mountain biking
• Equestrian tourism
• Climbing
• Whitewater activities (except rafting)
• Underwater activities
• Canoeing and sailing (except sea kayak)
• Airborne activities (ballooning, parachute jumping)
• Snow activities (except Nordic and Alpine skiing)
• Multi-activities (except raids)

The Active Tourism Club is formed by:

• Travel agencies and reservation centres specialising in Active Tourism.
• Active tourism and other service companies.
• Accommodation services offering active tourism activities locally.
• Public organisations and bodies in territories offering active tourism facilities (tourism offices, tourist boards and county councils).

Members of hotel and Active Tourism associations wishing to enjoy Active Tourism Club services should become individual members of the club.
