The gencat subscription service enables you to get the latest news at your e-mail address or on your cell phone. Or if you prefer, you can get the latest news via an RSS feed reader, install search tools or play with our prototypes to help us improve them.
Installation instructions for the Windows operating system
Click on the following link to download the installation program to your computer.
Download the gencat RSS feed reader
When the download window opens, select the option Save to disk.
Once the download is completed you will have obtained installation wizard.
Double click on the wizard to begin the process of installing the program.
The first screen of the wizard will ask you to select the installation language from a drop-down menu. Make the selection and click on OK
A screen will appear displaying the Licence Agreement for the program. Click on Accept.
The wizard will then ask which components of the program you want to instal. The option to add direct access to Gencat RSS to the program menu appears by default. This is the most recommendable option. Click on Next.
This screen enables you to select which folder you want to install the program in. Select the folder and click on Instalto finalise the process.
Instructions for using the feed reader
Begin receiving and reading news by first opening the gencat RSS feed reader.
Click on New Channel.
This will open a screen asking for the URL of the new channel to be added.
Obtain this URL by going to the list of gencat RSS channels, place the cursor over the channel you want to add and right click with the mouse. A menu will appear for you to select either Copy direct access or Copy link location (depending on the browser you use).
Once copied, return to the screen to Add a new channel, place the cursor in the empty URL field, right click with the mouse and select Paste from the drop-down menu.
