The offer of products and services in the customers’ own language gives an added value which can contribute to their loyalty, because it allows for a closer relationship and increases customer satisfaction. On the other hand, the web system makes multilingual treatments much easier, both from the technical viewpoint and in costs.
 
Undoubtedly one of the bases of a company's commercial policy is to determine its target public and adapt the products and services offered — and the advertising — to the profile of the potential customers.

The appearance of the web as a new ambit of communication, interaction and transaction, enabling anyone connected to a computer anywhere in the world to be contacted, makes it even more essential to adapt the business communication to the various potential customers. This adaptation has to be manifest in the contents of the web and the language in which they are expressed.

and increases customer satisfaction. On the other hand, the web system makes multilingual treatments much easier, both from the technical viewpoint and in costs.

These guidelines are addressed to the companies and entities which develop their activity in Catalonia or have Catalan people among their target public. It has been prepared with the idea of encouraging the use of Catalan in company webs, starting from two principles:

To make the business world aware of the commercial advantages of including Catalan in webs addressed to the public in Catalonia.
To give companies technical guidance, and especially the managers of the webs, in the design and production of multilingual web sites.

This work is structured in two relatively independent chapters, one addressed to businessmen and the other to the technical managers of the web.
