To calculate the cost of adding languages depends on the particularities of each web.
 
To calculate the cost of adding languages depends on the particularities of each web: the web of a supermarket (with a database containing the catalogue of products available for on-line sales) is not the same as that of a computer services company (with more volume of text and an informative purpose).

In the chapter addressed to web managers there are various design recommendations and an indication as to what parameters are used to calculate an estimate for localizing a web site. In any event, we can make three general statements:

It is very important to start with a good design. If the web is designed to be multilingual, the cost of the different versions is considerably reduced.
In no case is the cost of translation of a web to another language the same as the original cost of the web. It will depend on the preparation of the material of the version that is to be translated.
The cost of linguistic adaptation of the web site to the local market is financially profitable: it brings an improvement in service and contributes to making the end customer loyal.
